Int. Car - Dusk into Night
POV from inside of a car of a desolate rural landscape as
night falls. Silhouette trees line the bluish-gray sky.
Little later, it is all dark now, there is no on else on the
We hear a match striking a match box. As the light approaches
the cigarette, we finally see who is driving. Adam Biro, a middle aged man, has
a face that seems to have hit every bump on the road of life. Not a rugged face
but a soft face that has taken a lot of beating.
Adam keeps his eyes on the road as he lights his cigarette.
When it is lit, he inhales, cherishes it, and then coughs from discomfort. He
doesn't have the actions of someone who smokes a lot. He takes another puff and
throws the cigarette out of the car.
A road sign reads: "Next Rest Area 45 miles."
He can't wait that long, clearly uncomfortable. He tries to
light another cigarette but gives up quickly.
A small trail or roadway approaches. He leans to get a closer

Without even a look around, he quickly runs to the side,
unzipping his pants at the same time. He pees on a tree. His body relaxes.
He looks at the sky. It is a starry night. But that trance is
broken with noise of rustling leaves and voices. He quickens. Zips his pants
and approaches the car, all the while keeping an eye on the direction of the
Two young people walk out of the woods. They seem animated and confused. They approach Adam without really announcing themselves. Their eyes peeled on him. Just when they have gotten a little too close...

You know tonight is the night.

You know what I am talking about?
Alright, forget it.
I just pulled over to...pee.
Oh. Do you know where the cave is?
No. I am not from around here.
They walk back in the direction they came from.
What is happening tonight?
They stop, look around. Wonder if they should tell him.
You a cop?
Well, tonight we go up.

Adam is confused but understand what she means. They smile at
him, they can see that he thinks they're crazy.
Adam is speechless. They turn and leave. He looks up at the
sky one more time. It does look like a magical night. He gets back in the car.
INT. CAR - Dirt road
Car turns around. As he navigates through the dirt road, he
encounters an old man walking. Adam tries to half-heartedly wave. The old man
passes avoiding any eye-contact.

More driving. Adam looks worn. He pulls into a Church parking

The church is empty except for a open casket and a priest
sitting in the pew waiting, bored.
